Entertainment seekers in search of a notebook that offers Blu-ray playback, solid performance, and plenty of style will find a lot to like in the Sony VGP-BPS8 Battery. Priced at a reasonable $879 (as low as $799 online), this machine comes packed with a wealth of features, as well as a sharp 15.5-inch display—although you’ll need to use the HDMI port and an external monitor or TV to get the full 1080p experience. Those looking for more graphics oomph will want to opt for a different configuration of this system, but overall is a satisfying multimedia laptop.
Design
The first thing you’ll notice about the 14.6 x 9.8 x 1.2-inch, Walnut Brown  is the cool faux-wood design on the lid, which extends to the base of the system. If you’re not keen on this look, also offers the system in in Birch White and Silver Rattan. Owing to the NW’s “waved body” design, the keyboard resides in a slight depression, but it didn’t negatively impact our typing.
Above and to the right of the keyboard are a row of buttons that let us launch the Splashtop instant-on browser (which allows users access to the Web while avoiding Vista’s lengthy boot times), mute the speakers, and turn the display off (for when you’re using the notebook only to listen to music, for example). We would have liked to see dedicated volume controls, but it’s easy enough to adjust with function keys. At 5.6 pounds, isn’t a system you’ll want to constantly keep in tow, but it’s certainly light enough to easily move from room to room.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The island-style keyboard on the VAIO NW is roomy and comfortable, which as .htmmade for a pleasurable typing experience. The keys are flat and springy; the layout lacks a full number pad, but that’s far from a dealbreaker on a multimedia notebook.
A 3.3 x 2.5-inch textured touchpad below the keyboard offered just the right amount of resistance; it was neither too slippery nor too friction-heavy. That let us zip the cursor across the screen with ease. We also liked the two raised touchpad buttons, which had a firm feel Sony VGP-BPS2C.
Display and Audio
The glossy, 15.5-inch (1366 x 768-pixel resolution) display uses Sony’s X-Brite Eco technology, which lengthens battery as life by using one backlight instead of the two in the regular X-Brite displays. The 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio offered plenty of real estate for crafting documents and reading Web pages. The viewing angles were fairly decent; two people can watch a video simultaneously, but as you move farther from the center, you’ll encounter more reflections.
Overall, the sound that emanated from the speakers was quite crisp; we loved the crackle of the gunfire exchanges and the sounds of helicopter blades were nice and chunky. The maximum volume and bass may not be enough for those who like to rattle rooms, but we found the audio sufficiently loud and clear when watching movies or streaming ‘90s alternative music from Slacker.
Blu-ray Playback
The VAIO NW is one of the least expensive notebooks yet that offers an integrated Blu-ray drive. The notebook itself supports only 720p playback, but we like what we saw when we popped in our We Were Soldiers Blu-ray. Night scenes, for example, showed the appropriate amount of black without losing detail.
When we output the video via HDMI to a 32-inch Samsung monitor, was able to deftly handle our flick’s fast-moving action scenes at 1080p resolution. The appeal of Blu-ray on this (or any notebook) will come down to how convenient it is for you to hook the system up to a large TV or monitor that can take full advantage of the format’s capabilities.
Ports and Webcam
is packed with a fair number of connectivity options for hooking up accessories and peripherals. Built into the right side of the system is the aforementioned 2X Blu-ray drive (with an 8X DVD+/-RW burner), two USB 2.0 ports, and headphone and microphone jacks; its front features two memory card readers (Memory Stick Pro and SD), and a Wi-Fi switch; the left side contains an additional USB port, VGA, HDMI, FireWire 400, Ethernet, and an ExpressCard/34 slot.
Diving face-first into video chats with friends was simple, thanks to the embedded 0.3 MP Motion Eye camera. While chatting with friends using Skype, we enjoyed smooth frame rates that suffered from very little blur. However, we found the colors as —be it clothing or skin tones—to be a bit muted.

Apple Macbook 2008 Release

Overview
It’s big news whenever Apple announces new products and now Apple’s bestselling consumer notebook receives the long rumored major redesign that is no doubt, another stunner. Just when you thought Apple couldn’t make the previous generation MacBook any better, they come around and offer this aluminum and glass beauty that is even thinner, lighter, and more powerful than before.  Now that Apple has brought its renewed MacBooks ($1299 starting) and MacBook Pros ($1999 starting) even closer together by offering the same design, engineering, and -for the first time on the MacBook – aluminum body to both notebook lines, the once straightforward consumer and pro-line product differentiation is slowly fading away.  Is this the best MacBook to date?  Is it safe to call the MacBook, the MacBook Pro “mini”?  Read on.

Design
The new MacBook and MacBook Pro make some significant strides in the design department.  First, the MacBook for the first time, joins the MacBook Pro in offering an all-aluminum body, ditching the white polycarbonate plastic that once defined the consumer line.  In fact, both machines look pretty much identical to each other – offering a black glass bezel screen and black “chiclet-style” keyboards to reflect the new Apple design direction first introduced with the current iMac and iPhone.  It’s a stunner for sure.  The exterior borrows cues from the MacBook Air using tapered edges that trick you into thinking it’s even thinner than it already is.  The magnetic latch opens and closes the display with buttery smoothness and without mechanical parts.  Aa satisfyingly solid “thunk” can be heard when closed.   Available in the more expensive $1599 model are LED backlit keys – a first for the MacBook.

Aside from the switch to a fully aluminum casing that replaces the now-defunct white plastic and/or black matte finish of the previous generation, Apple is touting its new manufacturing process as a technological and engineering breakthrough.  Using a full slab of aluminum to construct the MacBook and MacBook Pro, not only does this revolutionary process create a body and chassis that is much stiffer with no flexing, these new notebooks use less mechanical screws, parts and pieces to construct together, and thus allow Apple is able to achieve a lighter and thinner product.  The result is a notebook that is so clean and so sleek looking in design, it’s devoid of any evidence of screws to piece it together and without any vents, confirms that this new design doubles as an effective heatsink.

While it’s nice to see the MacBook now offer the same look and materials as the MacBook Pro, Apple may now run the risk of cannibalizing sales of its own pricier MacBook Pros, as they both look almost identical to each other and features-wise, the line between the two is blurring.  Call it the MacBook Pro mini if you will in appearance, Apple has revolutionized a new way to build quality notebooks that are also environmental friendly.

Size and Weight
Impressively, the new MacBook vgp-bps8b is even thinner and lighter than before, achieving a thickness of only .95 ” – the same as the new MacBook Pro.  At 4.5 pounds, the new MacBook is 1.5 pounds lighter than the outgoing model with weight evenly distributed across thanks to its unibody construction (read: less parts).  At 12.78″ x 8.94″, the new machines are pretty much identical in dimensions to the last generation models.

Keyboard

Love it or hate it, Apple has now transitioned its entire Mac lineup to the retro-looking “chiclet-style” keyboard with the new MacBooks.  Rather than color match the keys with the aluminum body, Apple’s new design direction employs the use of black keys to give the notebook an interesting design contrast.  The downside of having black keys is noticeable fingerprint smudging from oily fingers; At least it won’t look and get dirty like the older white MacBooks. Aesthetics aside, the full-size keyboard is a real pleasure to type on with very solid and satisfying clicks.  The keys may be flat and spaced out, but it’s oh-so-comfortable to type on with just the right amount of key travel sony vgp-bps8 and spring action.  The higher end model also offers LED backlit keys for the first time on a MacBook – once again, blurring the lines between the MacBook and MacBook Pro in features.

Display
With a gorgeous 13.3″ LED-backlit LCD screen fully encased beneath a black bezeled glass, the MacBook’s display is stunning to look at even when powered off.  The glossy finish makes colors really pop and adds to its enhanced vibrance, but at the cost of massive glare, making outdoor viewing difficult.  Indoor viewing is not as bad, but reflections abound so be mindful of viewing angles and tilt adjustments.  At first glance, the display seems identical to the previous MacBook screen with the same 1280×800 native resolution, but thanks to the new LED-backlighting, the display is evenly lit across the screen and noticeably brighter than the previous generation models.   Watching movies was a real treat even though you’ll find yourself seeing your own reflection in lighted areas.  But when compared to the MacBook Pro’s larger screen, the MacBook’s picture quality is still inferior and you’ll notice the contrast and blacks drop out when viewed from an angle – The MacBook Pro’s, on the otherhand, looks great at any angle.  This is a big reason why Apple would like for you to pay the extra money to go Pro for the better screen.  A built-in iSight camera is included as well like before on the top of the display.

Buttonless Glass Trackpad
Apple once again leads the competition by offering zero buttons…no really!  Apple has created the first “buttonless” trackpad built entirely of glass that also includes multi-touch technology.  The entire trackpad is essential a button in itself where pushing down creates a solid click to confirm depresses.  While it takes getting used to at first, the trackpad actually turns out to be very intuitive with a smooth glossy feel.  The MacBook Air introduced 3-finger scrolling and the MacBook and MacBook Pro now offer 4-finger multi-touch scrolling for calling upon Expose and Spaces functionality.  While quirky, you’ll soon appreciate the wonders the new glassy trackpad’s buttonless design provides.

Connectivity
Apple has shrewdly and neatly moved all ports to the left side of the notebook (the right side now occupies the lone optical drive), giving it a very clean and organized look so there’s no cluttered wires coming out of either side.  With the MacBook, you get 2 USB 2.0 ports, gigabit ethernet port, audio in/out jacks, MagSafe charge port, and the new mini DisplayPort that replaces the old mini-DVI out in an effort to save precious component space.  Also of convenience is the battery meter on the same side.  In a surprising move, Apple has curiously decided to omit FireWire in the new MacBook that was previous made standard across the entire Mac lineup.  Now, the only way for media heads to take advantage of FireWire connectivity is to shell up the $700 for the MacBook Pro or buy a pricey adapter.  While most people can argue that FireWire’s adoption is dwindling in favor of USB, one of the unique things that made FireWire so special for Macs is the target disk feature, allowing the computer to boot OS X off any FireWire external drive.  Call it cost-cutting or the death of FireWire adoption, we call it a disappointment.

The DisplayPort is another interesting move on Apple’s part to capitalize on a new standard that not only saves component space from the larger DVI and mini-DVI ports, but transitions across all future Macs.  Unfortunately, Apple is skimping on the accessories as you’ll have to shell the hefty $99 for the mini DisplayPort adapter kit to connect an external monitor. Harsh.

For the common consumer, the MacBook provides just enough of what you need and nothing you don’t  in terms of available ports.  Trimming the fat, Apple still doesn’t offer any built-in digital card reader into the unit when compared to the competition and ExpressCard is a feature you’ll only find on the MacBook Pro.  Limited but more than sufficient.

Upgrading
One of the pains of owning an Apple notebook before was the difficulty in upgrading the basic hardware components.  It took a few dozen tiny screws just to get to the harddrive!  Not so with these new notebooks.  Apple clearly did it’s homework when redesigning the MacBook and MacBook Pro, making it very easy to open and upgrade.  Only 2 aluminum plates pieces hold the base together, providing easy access into the harddrive compartment and RAM slots through a simple flip of a latche.  The big news is the removable battery, now tucked neatly beneath one panel next to the hard drive.  Upgrading is limited to your standard harddrive upgrade (SATA or SSD) and adding more RAM (up to 4GB max).

Features:

The MacBook laptop battery is a real engineering marvel. It’s stunning good looks compliment the bevy of new advanced technology and engineering features. The Intel Core2Duo 2.0Ghz model ($1299) we received proved plenty capable of handling most common computing tasks and comes with a 160gb harddrive and 2gb of RAM (with the 1066Mhz FSB). A 2.4Ghz model is available as well for an additional $300 sticker price and includes a 250Gb SATA drive. Both models offer the option of the pricey but fast SSD drive.

Ditching the weak integrated graphics chipset from Intel, the MacBook finally offers a dedicated true graphics engine in the form of the nVidia GeForce 9400M making for better handling of 3D graphics and video. The results, are quite noticeable in speed and video performance throughout the system. Another great feature with this card is that it results in lower heat generation as the CPU no longer has to work so hard in processing these tasks. However, don’t expect the GPU to bowl you over in graphics-heavy applications though (read gaming). But, the 9400M certainly does pack a good amount of 3D punch to your videos, media, and gaming sessions, especially with the likes of the new Adobe Photoshop utilizing thus features.

Wireless-N, Bluetooth, SuperDrive and iSight are all standard features as usual.

Heat and noise wasn’t much of an issue with the new MacBooks thanks to the entire aluminum unibody acting as a giant heatsink.  The notebook runs warm but not quite as hot as older models and a soft hum can be heard only when the fan kicks in intermittently.  No issues here.  In our battery tests, watching a DVD yielded about 2:40 of juice, and in basic tasks such as web browsing and word processing, a respectable 4:30 of life.

Conclusion
Overall, we found the new MacBook a real pleasure to use as with all Mac products we’ve tested.  It’s a gorgeous, sexy piece of machinery and certainly the best MacBook yet.  But we do question Apple’s decision to make the MacBook so closely identical in looks and features to the MacBook Pro… Anyway, at $1299 starting, it’s a tad more expensive than we had hoped it would be, but you do get a lot for your money namely the aluminum casing, glassy multi-touch buttonless trackpad and of course, the revolutionary unibody “brick” construction and for a whole $700 cheaper than the cheapest MacBook Pro model.  Nonetheless it’s a excellent buy for one of the best notebooks around on the market.  Some may not like Apple’s new design direction (myself included) utilizing black keys to contrast the aluminum, but there’s no denying this is one of the best looking laptops available.

Bottom Line:
With a dedicated GPU and aluminum body, it might be “safe” to call the MacBook the “true” successor to the highly heralded Powerbook 12″.  Well…almost – the lack of FireWire is a serious hit and it’s still a tad too big.  What about calling it a MacBook Pro mini?  Not quite but its darn close. A better display and graphics card, Firewire, ExpressCard slot, and LED keys are all that gets in the way of the $700 difference, features wise.  Yet, the lines between the consumer and pro models are fading away ever so slightly…Suddenly $1299 feels like a great bargain.

I own tried changing the folder names to .mpg, but lone get fragmented pieces of the video, and it still won’t introduction into WMM. I really need to amount this out very soon, please backing in any bearing you can!

Cheap Laptop Batteries: Good Deal or Risky?

You can save up to 50% with an aftermarket battery for your notebook — if you dare.

It was five years coming, but the battery of my ThinkPad R50 finally met its maker. On a recent trip, it conked out after powering the notebook for only half an hour — three hours short of what I’m used to getting out it. Now it refuses to be recharged at all. Clearly, it’s time for a new battery.

It’s a fact of life that sooner or later, every laptop battery hits old age. Most do well for between 18 and 36 months, depending on how heavily they’re used. Then they slip into a slow decline and lose the ability to take a full charge.

The reason? A typical battery pack can be recharged between 300 and 500 times before the chemicals inside start to wear out, with the result that a battery that once powered a system for three hours can now run for only an hour or less. That’s when it’s time to replace the battery.

There are two basic types of notebook batteries: the brand-name batteries that the manufacturer sells and the aftermarket batteries that are available from third-party resellers — often for a significantly lower price. The trade in aftermarket batteries is growing quickly, perhaps by as much as 30% a year, according to Don Saxman, an analyst at BCC Research in Wellesley, Mass.

“This is the result of the enormous popularity of notebooks,” Saxman explains. “Lots of people buy a second battery, and the longer you keep a notebook, the greater the chance that it will need a new battery.”

We all want to save money, but not if it puts our notebooks at risk. Buying an aftermarket battery often goes against the advice of laptop manufacturers, and in some cases can even void the warranty. Is it worth it to save a few bucks?

I went on a mission to find out whether aftermarket replacement batteries are a good deal, safe and reliable or a dangerous fraud.

Bargain Hunting

With the Lenovo replacement battery for my ThinkPad R50 selling for $160 — about half what the notebook itself is worth — there was certainly room to save some money. I also went looking for a new battery for my two-year-old MacBook Pro. Both machines have worn-out batteries that power the systems for half the time or less than they could when they were new.

With the battery part numbers in hand, I did a little nosing around on the Web. I found several places that sell batteries for a wide variety of notebooks made in the past 15 years, from ones introduced earlier this year to relics like the 12-year-old Texas Instruments Extensa 600. Many of the companies also sell AC adapters and batteries for mobile phones, digital cameras and handheld devices.

IBM ThinkPad R50 Series Laptop Battery

It turns out that lots of places carry replacement batteries for the ThinkPad R50; the same battery works with ThinkPad T40 series notebooks. Only a handful of online stores had a power pack for the MacBook Pro.

IBM ThinkPad T40 Series Laptop Battery

I was able to find both the batteries I needed at UK Top Laptop Battery Shop, based in 92, Clydesdale Place Moss Side Employment Area Leyland Lancashire PR26 7QS United Kingdom, Ohio. But before contacting them, I did a little research. I Googled exceldigital.org.uk to see if anybody had reported faulty products or bad experiences, or if there were pending legal actions against them.

It appeared to be reputable businesses that have been around for several years. The products they sell include a one-year warranty and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

It retailers can quickly ship out a battery in an emergency. For instance, exceldigital.org.uk has its warehouse in 92, Clydesdale Place Moss Side Employment Area Leyland Lancashire PR26 7QS United Kingdom for next-day delivery.

How They Performed

Over the course of a month, I ordered six batteries for my two notebooks and tested them out. Two came from Laptops for Less, two came from Laptop Battery Express, and one battery each came from Apple Inc. and Lenovo Group Ltd. With one exception — a dead battery from Lenovo, which the company quickly replaced — each of the new batteries worked perfectly and powered up the notebooks completely.

Without a doubt, aftermarket batteries are a good way to replace a dead battery without spending a lot of money. Despite costing $20 to $70 less, the aftermarket replacements proved to be just as good and reliable as the originals in my tests.

All of the aftermarket batteries I looked at fit fine. They just snapped in, and the systems powered right up. And the aftermarket replacements powered the notebooks for about the same amount of time per charge as the reseller replacements did.

Other than some minor cosmetic differences — for instance, the plastic on one R50 replacement was a slightly different shade of black and not as shiny as the original — I couldn’t tell them apart from the manufacturers’ batteries.

“It’s hard to tell them apart,” says BCC Research’s Saxman. “Often, notebook makers buy batteries made by a third-party manufacturer, while aftermarket battery packs frequently come from the same factory that made the originals. It’s confusing, to say the least.”

Frequently, the only things that separate the two types of batteries are whose name is on the label and how much it costs. In fact, the MacBook Pro battery that Laptop Battery Express sent me was actually an Apple-branded battery with all the markings, including a serial number.

The company’s supplier said it was left over from a production run made for Apple. Whether this violates agreements between the factory and Apple is for their lawyers to fight about. All I know is that I got a battery for $30 less that appeared to be identical and gave me no problems.

Sometimes aftermarket batteries are even better than the originals. Due to added efficiencies that manufacturing plants have developed in the time since the notebook and its first battery pack were made, some replacement cells can be lighter or contain more capacity.

Two of the six batteries I looked at stand out. The MacBook Pro battery from exceldigital.org.uk weighs 2.3 oz. less than Apple’s battery but delivers about the same capacity; it ran for only five minutes less than the reseller replacement. Then there’s the R50 replacement battery sold by exceldigital.org.uk, which has a higher capacity but weighs 0.2 oz. less; it ran for an extra 10 minutes.

Each was significantly less expensive than the manufacturers’ batteries, which sounds like a win-win to me.

Are They Safe? And What About My Warranty?

The aftermarket battery trade is a fact of life and will likely grow in the coming years, but that doesn’t mean the notebook makers have to like it. I asked several leading laptop manufacturers if they believe aftermarket batteries are dangerous to use and if using them invalidates the notebooks’ warranties. While Apple, Hewlett-Packard and Dell did not respond to my repeated queries, Lenovo and Toshiba agreed to discuss the issue.

Neither manufacturer said that aftermarket batteries are dangerous, but they stressed that their batteries were designed and manufactured expressly for their equipment. A Lenovo representative said, “We do not support the use of nongenuine Lenovo batteries in ThinkPads. ThinkPad batteries are designed and tested with ThinkPad notebooks to ensure safety, compatibility and performance.”

While using an aftermarket battery doesn’t invalidate a notebook’s warranty in and of itself, the manufacturers probably wouldn’t repair a notebook under warranty that has been damaged by a faulty aftermarket battery, according to company representatives. In other words, a faulty aftermarket battery does invalidate the warranty.

As a Toshiba Corp. marketing executive said to me, “Toshiba does not guarantee the system’s performance, reliability or safety as they relate to aftermarket batteries.”

This is ironic, since notebook makers like Apple, Dell, Sony, Lenovo, Toshiba and others have an uneven record when it comes to the batteries they sell themselves. Together, they have recalled millions of bad batteries over the past few years. Some of the power packs weren’t up to spec, while others were potential fire hazards. So it seems that no battery, regardless of who makes or sells it, is immune to problems.

“Most replacement batteries are perfectly safe,” observes Vishal Sapru, manager of power systems at market analysis firm Frost & Sullivan. “But you really need to be wary.” His advice is to seek out a reputable dealer with a history of supplying high-quality products that provides a year’s warranty on the battery and an initial money-back guarantee.

The reward is that you’ll pay between 15% to 50% less than the manufacturer product for substantially the same battery. “In some cases, it really is the same battery,” says Sapru. But he warns against batteries listed for less than 50% of the reseller price: “Below that, there’s potentially something wrong with the battery and the seller.”

Excellent advice is to steer clear of used batteries or those listed on eBay. I wish I had heard this advice five years ago when I bought a battery for my Gateway notebook on eBay for $20, compared with Gateway Inc.’s $150 product. It was listed as a new battery in the original packaging, but it held only a 20% charge, making it worthless to me.

“In other words,” explains ExcelDigital’s Sky, “shop carefully and be comfortable with your battery purchase. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.”

We are the huge battery company on sale laptop battery, laptop adapter, cordless drill battery, camcorder battery, camera battery, battery charger, mobile phone battery, PDA battery, two-way radio battery, all sell with price at rock bottom, 1 year warranty, 30

Mobile Phone Will Become The Next Generation of Computer?

Computer World Net reported that the world’s total of 1.5 billion mobile phones. You may have already begun to use mobile phones to the Internet, take pictures, send e-mail and play games. Very quickly, your current PC may be eliminated.
The development of mobile phones around the world
1900 hours 41 minutes 16 seconds, the figure is worked out by a person who named Adam Rappoport of Philadelphia high school students last year, Hanukkah (Jewish Day 1) received one as a gift of silver Verizon LG cell phones, he spend lot of time on it, he said,  “I am familiar with the phone’s touch-screen more than PC keyboard ” He said: “I am a cell phone boy.”
side of the globe in Tokyo, Satoshi Koiso is  also staring at his cell phone. Koiso was studying  third year of college, living in the capital of the world’s fresh Wanyi Er – 20% of Tokyo  were connected to the world’s fastest mobile phone network, people are using mobile phones to watch television, read books and magazines, as well as play games. However, Koiso always uses phone to  do some simple and meaningful things, for example, each morning on a small screen pops up an anti-tobacco message. This is an activity which designed to help students quit smoking part of the activities. “Teachers are also working to quit smoking while you are there, hesitant.” One day an e-mail that said.
While in Frankfurt, Germany, Chrisoph Oswald was rushed to that his favorite bars, to search for his favorite woman: high, thin, and the frank. This 36-year-old software consultant is staring at his cell phone screen to complete the search. When reached the bar, Oswald’s Nokia cell phone began to shake, and then an attractive blonde appeared in his color display. She said: “Hey, I’m Susan, come to see me!” Oswald scan a bit about the crowd, and found that girls on the screen. In fact, both of their cell phones are close to each other, the phone has been activated a service called “Symbian Dater”.The service will compare two people’s profiles and determine their suitability to each other. Very quickly, they both laughed, and then Chrisoph bought a glass of wine for Susan.
scientific and technological revolution occurred in two kinds of modes: surprisingly quickly and imperceptibly slow. The kind of fast, such as the iPod’s popularity, or the proliferation of music-sharing Web site, and soon changed the cultural landscape. And Those that changes are slow and need to take several decades to change our way of life and work. In contrast, the popularity of mobile phones is relatively slow, but significant. In 1977, AT & T in Chicago established the world’s first mobile network has only a few 2000 users, at that period ,the phone in terms of shape and weight is like a brick.
These handsets have been put into the museum collections, at present, our world every year sales of cell phones is more than 500 million, they look smooth, and color-bright. Sales of mobile phones have caused the compressed sales of television, radio and even personal computer. A total of 1.5 billion mobile phones around the world, more than double the number of PC. Mobile phone has been so deeply embedded in our lives, so if we do not have them, then it is difficult to imagine how we will do in future.
the dispute for  Mobile phone can replace PC or not?
When our phone is becoming increasingly intelligent, smaller and faster, and they can allow users to connect to high-speed Internet, then an obvious problem: the mobile phone will become the next generation of computer? In fact, in a sense, it is already is. Most advanced mobile phones have processing power equivalent to the mid-nineties of the last century’s PC, while the energy consumption is only one percent of the latter. Moreover, an increasing number of cell phones with computer features, such as sending e-mail, browsing the Web or even shooting pictures. Last year, shipment of camera phones reached 84 million. However, whether the development of mobile phones will make the PC bleak and even to replace the PC is still controversy. PC’s supporters said the phone’s size is too small, too slow to connect to the network and thus can not effectively complete the current computer keyboard and expensive displays can accomplish those tasks. Supporters of cell phones responded to: wait and see, the upcoming innovations will lift the restrictions on mobile phones. Palm Pilot inventor and PlamOne’s CTO Jeff Hawkins said: “One day, there are 2 billion to 3 billion people have mobile phones at the same time, and there is no PC. Handset will become our entire digital lifestyle.”
PalmOne is the one of those trying to keep the cell phone has all functions of the computer. Hawkins The latest product has a smooth appearance, and only pocket-size Treo 600. Treo has a small size keyboard, a built-in digital camera and additional memory slot. Other equipment suppliers have also introduced their unique functionality of the phone. Nokia launched last fall, N-Gage, and plans to be able to play this month will launch a new version of video games cell phone in this month. Motorola’s upcoming MPx will have a perfect “double rotation” design: When the phone is open in one direction, it looks like an ordinary phone, but when it is time to open along the other axis , it is an e-mail device, while the telephone keypad at this time will be extended into a small standard keyboard. There are also some smart phones being developed will come with digital cameras, GPS antennas, as well as to the local Wi-Fi hot spots (a kind of in the office, airports and coffee shops can often be seen in ultra-high-speed wireless network) interface.
At present, according to Gartner research, smart phones accounted for only 5% of the total mobile handset sales, but this figure doubling every year. In the United States, business people are the major customers smart phone. Has 80 employees, a Baltimore law firm Gordon Feinblatt has recently started to release Treo 600 rather than the laptop to his own lawyers. It is a member of the Jeff Hackett said: “The smart phones greatest benefit relative to the computer is that it is always accompanied by you.”
the favorable gifts of South Korea 1 / 2 children, Children on Children’s Day is cell phone!
While in Asia, not those boring professionals drive the latest innovation of mobile phone market, but the Japanese so-called “Keitai-crazy kids”. There are many teenagers sitting in a crowded Tokyo shopping malls, busy with each other to send messages, read e-mail magazine or playing “Dragon Quest” games. In Korea, young people are so fond of cell phones, so a recent survey of primary school students, half of the children said they most wanted in the Children’s Day gift is a cell phone. In contrast, dogs received 22% of the vote, while the PC has only 10% of supporters. Many Asian handset manufacturers believe that, for these children is already 75-year-old TV will be the next one will be liked. In May, Samsung announced that it would launch a television cell phones can watch more than 40 TV programs.
Mobile Observers say that in next few years, flash memory capacity of mobile phones will be more than 1G, so you can become a great album or a music player, and may supply their own storage device iPod (Apple’s a digital music player electronic equipment) use. Over the years, the industry in discussion “location-based services”, ie mobile phone anywhere in the world can detect its exact location, to provide driving directions services, showing the discount information on nearby shops, or dating services – like Frankfurt’s Christoph enjoyed.
But not all experts believe that it will be the end of the development of mobile phones. Your cell phone one day will actually run most of the features of PC, such as word processing and web browsing? PalmOne’s Hawkins thought it will be. The Palm Pilot and the Treo inventor in his office equipped with a desktop machine and a Sony VAIO notebook computer, but he often without them, as if they are just relics of history only. He predicted that in the next few decades, all the phones will become mobile phones, and all the networks are able to receive voice and Internet access at broadband speed signals. When the mobile operators to recover their investment in the new network after all phone charges will be reduced to only a few dollars. Hawkins predicted: “the equivalent of your own pocket to have a T1 line interface.” He also said, the computer will not disappear, but they will have to retire next station, because people prefer a more portable, and can be opened immediately for using and need not to activate the machine.
PC defender of violations responded to this belief. They pointed out that laptops can offer another way to mobile computing. Particularly over the last few years, with tens of thousands around the world, Wi-Fi networking, this trend is more pronounced. To the end of this year, notebook shipments in nearly half equipped with Wi-Fi, making their owners can set up a temporary office in a coffee shop or a park. Moreover, there is a simple problem: that is, the size of mobile phones will become smaller and smaller, but the size of the volume of people has not changed. Intel’s executive vice president Sean Maleny, said: “There are billions of people will not stare at the small screen with a way to back replace them for the screen, keyboard, cell phone experience.” Intel the same time, will put a large number of investment in Wi-Fi and mobile phone technology.
However, the cell phone innovators are working to resolve this difficult problem. Scientists have carried out decades of research in the speech recognition, the recent introduction of this technology into PDA, allowing users through a simple voice commands to control these devices. Although the phone is still a lack of sufficient capacity to accomplish this functionality, but Moore’s Law will help it to do so soon. There are some people are working to improve the keyboard. Canesta is a has been a five-year-old company in San Jose, California that is developing a called “projection keyboard” products – mobile phones, laser equipment, will project an ordinary keyboard layout onto a large screen, and then use the camera of cell phones to capture the user’s finger movements.
In any case, cell phones will not follow the fastest path to achieve their bright future. Since there is no single company can fully control such devices, the mobile phone industry where innovation is often full of twists and turns and mistakes. Sprint and AT & T that is responsible for telephone operators to sell phones to users and provide billing and operation of telephone networks , Hua Fei; Sony, Nokia and Samsung devices such as chinese phone manufacturers are only responsible for the design, while outsourcing the actual production to Chinese factories. Another challenge is, not the same as the Internet, mobile phone does not exist open, and the only agreement. This means that software developed as a mobile phone does not run on other mobile phones. Non-commercial programming on the Internet has led to the rapid evolution, but in the cell phone world, it does not apply.
However, if you can overcome these commercial barriers, but only by the constraints of imagination and technical feasibility, then what will happen then? Frog Design is a 34-year-old company, it has helped Motorola, Nextel had designed many types of mobile phone. Now, it tried to answer this question. Four professional technical design staff spent a month at the time, formulated a “petfrog” specifications. petfrog is a smooth, attractive phone, it is touch-screen can display, including keyboard, mouse, or game console to any interactive interface. In addition, its high-resolution video screen can provide video dialogue and surfing online. It also has a thin-style, pluggable storage devices, allowing to transfer a phone into an MP3 player or a digital camera.

Custom App Developer, Amadeus Consulting Discusses Alternatives To The Apple

Last Saturday, one of our lucky staff members won the prize of coming in to the office to pick up our new toy: Apple’s® new iPad™.  We opted for all the bells and whistles, so that we can use it for testing and developing applications.

We are pretty excited, and have been working on app development for the iPad since the developer kit was released.  The media is abuzz about the new device and next few weeks will be an iPad frenzy as they begin to arrive.

The iPad is a great new device that takes mobile computing and application development to a whole new level by being ultra portable, mobile and convenient.  However, there are many other tablet devices set to come out this year that are really amazing as well, and definitely deserve some attention.

For this week’s column, we’ve decided to tell you about some of the other tablet options and why we are pretty excited about them too.

WePad

German Company Neofonie™ announced a new entry to the the tablet market: the WePad™.  Not to be confused with the iPad, the WePad has a very impressive arsenal of features and hardware.  Based around Google’s open Android operating system, the WePad boasts a 11.6″ display, a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, a webcam, USB sockets, a flash card reader, and many other impressive features.

With the Android operating system, it will be able to download and run apps from the Android Marketplace, as well as its own WePad AppStore, which means that current android apps should be able to run fine on the WePad, or have WePad specific applications.  Also, unlike the iPad, the Android OS allows multitasking which creates a much better user experience.

Even though Neofonie has a working prototype that they showcased last week, they have yet to announce a release date or purchase price.  But even so, if it can do everything they say it can, it is going to be one of the most impressive tablets on the market, and it provides encouragement to those looking to build apps for android phones since they will also get to play with tablet devices.

However, the WePad isn’t the only upcoming Android-based tablet.

ARCHOS Home Tablets

Announced earlier this month by the French company Archos™, the ARCHOS 7 Home Tablet and ARCHOS 8 Home Tablet are the latest in their mobile computing options.  The Archos Home Tablets are each designed for specific applications, and each targets a different market.

The Archos 7 is the smaller of the two, sporting a 7″ touch screen, but it comes packed with power, and is probably the least expensive of all the tablets listed here, at just $200.  The Archos 8 Home Tablet is larger and is intended to display like a picture frame, which is meant for the home or kitchen.

For example, you could prop it up in the kitchen and use it when preparing a meal to access the Internet, pull up recipes and cooking instructions or chat with people online. Then when it’s not in use, you could it could just display pictures or video.

That’s not to diminish the power or portability of the device, however it is meant as a compact stand-alone computer that can be displayed in any room in the house.  But for a more mobile and portable device, the Home 7 tablet may be a better fit.

Both of these devices run on Google’s Android™, and they each reach a very specific audience.  As a software developer, we definitely see the potential for developing custom apps for these devices, especially since the apps would be available to all Android devices as well.

Archos is also expected to release yet another mobile internet tablet later this summer, called Archos 9, which will also be powered by the Android OS, be slightly larger than the Archos Home 7 and include improved web connectivity.

Notion Ink: Adam

Based out of India, Notion Ink™ was founded with the express purpose of creating tablet computers.  Notion Ink has cutely called their first creation Adam™, a very impressive tablet that runs on the Android OS.

Among its features is that it runs Adobe Flash to leverage the best of rich internet applications, has a 180 degree swivel camera for video chart or taking front-facing pictures, multi-touch support and 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity.  In addition, Adam also features a Pixel QI transflective screen. What is that?  It is a 10.1 inch screen that can switch between backlit LCD mode like on other tablets, and a low-power electrophoretic reflective mode, which looks more or less like e-ink, making it a great solution for switching between video and ebooks and greatly extending battery life while reading.

Expected to be released this June, Adam claims to have up to 16 hours of HD video playback, supporting 1080p video, all powered by a dual-core ARM processor and an NVidia GPU.

Adam really opens up the door to future application development possibilities for mobile and portable devices.  Needless to say, we can’t wait to get our hands on one.

Microsoft Courier (Rumored)

Jumping back to the US, Microsoft™ has a “secret” upcoming product called the Courier.  It still has not been officially announced by Microsoft, but the web is full of demo videos and pictures all showing prototypes of the device.  Does that make it true? No, not necessarily.  But the rumors are so juicy and the Courier looks so good that we can hardly resist.

What makes the Courier especially unique is that it is actually not a tablet—it’s a booklet.  It has dual 7-inch multi-touch screens, which means that you get a lot of screen space, but it folds down into a very compact size.

Not much is known about the exact specs on this device, but we can be pretty sure that it will involve Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 operating system, which should provide plenty of power and diversity to the device.  Also, the Windows Phone OS app development uses XNA, .NET and Silverlight, which are used in the development of Windows and gaming software, which should make courier apps very powerful and versatile.

HP Slate Windows 7 Tablet

Another US contender, Hewlett Packard™ announced their Slate™ tablet set to be released as early as June.  This one also comes with an estimated price of $540, which is right in line with the iPad.  However, the HP slate also boasts Flash capability, a faster processor, and runs on a Windows 7 Platform, meaning that it should be able to run anything that you can run on Windows 7, including any internet browser, Photoshop and games.

However, managing traditional Windows applications with only a multi-touch screen may not be the best solution in all cases, and so it also has Bluetooth capability and USB ports for easy attachment of a keyboard or mouse.

We are slightly surprised that HP went for Windows 7 instead of the Windows 7 Phone OS, but in either case it presents some exciting capabilities and considering it comes from an already well known brand and beats the iPad on specs, it could become a very popular platform.

Dell Mini 5 Android Tablet

Unveiled at CES earlier this year, Dell® announced a concept 5″ tablet that runs on the Anroid OS.  It also comes with 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and is a mix between a large phone and a tablet.  Or in other words, it is a really very smart phone.

Dell is also running with Android, which makes it another platform for Android apps and those that develop for them.    The Dell Mini 5 also boasts a 1GHz Snapdragon processor that should give it plenty of power without sacrificing batter life.

Spring Design Alex Ebook Reader

Spring Design™ combines a traditional E-reader with a second LCD screen, based off of Android OS.  This beats out other dedicated E-readers because it has a web browser and provides the best of both worlds.  It also comes with Wi-Fi connectivity and Ebooks from Borders bookstore.

The combination between and E-reader and  LCD provides for some cool combination applications as well as improved battery life and better readability of web page content.

Once again, the Android OS means some compatibility between other Android powered devices, which provides even better distribution for Android applications.

JooJoo

Singapore based company, Fusion Garage™, announced the JooJoo™ late last year.  According to their website, JooJoo is based off of the African word “joujou,” meaning magical device.  And this device is magical.

With a 12-inch LCD screen, the JooJoo boasts the ability to play HD videos and has Wi-Fi capability.  This product is currently available for pre-order, for around $500.  One thing that makes the JooJoo different is that it runs apps completely through the Web and runs on its own proprietary  operating system.

Fusion Garage announced their tablet just before the iPad and so has become an underdog in the news.  However, according to Fusion Garage, orders have actually increased since the iPad announcement.  In either case, this probably will not become a mainstream device, but it is an alternative option that may be worth consideration.

Lenovo U1 Hybrid Notebook

Lenovo® has been working with small netbooks and tablet PCs for some time, but the U1 hybrid™ notebook represents a shift in their tablet technology.

The unique feature is that it is essentially a netbook – small portable and similar to a laptop, but then the screen can detach and function like an independent slate tablet.  This literally puts two PCs into one device, and each has its own processor and operating system, but work together as a clamshell laptop or a multitouch slate tablet.

In this way, the base serves as a hop and docking station, whereas the tablet can be used in very mobile instances.  The two processors also use Lenovo’s Hybrid Switch technology which allows seamless toggling between the two processors.

The U1 runs on the Skylight Linux operating system, designed specifically for small devices, and has a user-facing camera and a wealth of features, including 3G connectivity, multi-touch, and long batter life.  Unfortunately all these features cost a bit more than other slate tablets, pricing it at $1000, but still within the range for new laptops.  It should be available by June of this year.

Lenovo also has a few other small notebooks coming out this year, including the Skylight Smartbook.  Lenovo still pairs their slate tablets with a keyboard, but that may prove to be a positive bonus to those who are dissatisfied with touch-screen typing.

As a developer, we look forward to continuing Linux-based development, and it will be exciting to see if mobile application development takes off on this type of platform.

Conclusion

If you noticed, there are a whole bunch of Android powered devices.  Market studies show Android taking over Apple’s iPhone OS as soon as 2013, and you can see with so many devices running on Android that the market for Android application is only going to get larger.

We are currently working clients to develop applications the iPhone/iPad operating system, as well as the Android OS, and have achieved remarkable results for our clients.  This market is only going to grow, and even though we are excited about our new iPad, and even our Microsoft Surface (a giant tablet?), custom software development for these new devices is something that can help businesses reach and engage users in ways that have never before been possible.

Ghost Hunting Should Be Professional

Ghost Hunting can be very fun and yet at times it can be one of the most terrifying things you will probably ever do in your life.

The following are just a few of the things folks have encountered during ghost hunting or paranormal investigations:

Smells: These smells can seem to come from no where, and develop instantly and disappear just as fast. The smells are often putrid like rotted meat, or like fresh bowel movements, and are very overpowering at times.

Apparitions: Some spirits appear as barely visible forms, while some become as solid and normal looking as a living person.

Clouds – Mists – Masses: Often fleeting shadows, things seen out of the corners of the eyes are encountered. Or a rolling black mass may appear, sometimes a whispy form like smoke is seen.

Disembodied voices: These are often heard and at times they can be very scary. Imagine being in a darkened room, and having something invisible whisper or even shout in your ear. These are not EVP’s, but normal sounding speech.

Physical Sensations – Some ghost hunters have been touched, pinched, slapped, had their hair pulled, been scratched or even bitten by invisible entities.

Rappings – Scratching – and Knockings: In walls, ceilings and floors. Strange sounds and noises are often heard in haunted locations, as well as hearing what sounds like objects being dropped, or moved in nearby rooms.

Cold spots: Sometimes just before a spirit manifests they draw energy from the surroundings. Often a spot in one area of a room will suddenly become very cold. For example the temperature thoughout a room may average 75 degrees but in one corner or area, the temperature will suddenly plummet to 50 degrees or even colder. This is a sure sign of a spirits presence or a soon manifestation.

Power drains and equipment malfunctions: Like cold spots, when a spirit is drawing energy needed to become solid or more visible, they will often draw-in nearby energy, this energy can also come from batteries in video camers, and other devices. Often cameras, tape recorders, even lights will suddenly go haywire or stop working all together when a spirit is present.

Almost everyone that does ghost hunting believes that there are two types of spirits, human and in-human, the latter are also called demons. I am a born again christian and believe the bible 100%. From my beliefs in the bible as factual. I believe there is only one type of spirit involved in any haunting, and these are in-human or demons.

According to the bible, when we are dead our spirits or souls are present with God, from there we are either granted a life of love and peace in heaven with the creator and the other believers, or we are cast into hell forever, with no chance of escape. The bible also says there is a huge chasm or void that separates the living from the dead, they cannot cross over or communicate with each other. There are other statements in the bible that clearly says that ghosts can not be the spirits or souls of people who have died.

Whether the creatures involved in a haunting are spirits of dead humans or whether they are demons, if one is trying to prove that they truly exist or if you are trying to disprove a haunting, then you must do paranormal investigations as a professional.

A professional Ghost Hunter or paranormal investigator needs to have the right tools. Here I will explain devices that every ghost hunter or paranormal investigator MUST have, if he or she is truly taking the phenomenon as real or as a business, and not as a joke.

Voice Recorder: It doesn’t matter if you use a standard tape recorder or one of the new digital recorders, what does matter is the quality and the ability to use an external microphone. Try to get one that is of good quality, but make sure you get one that has a plug in microphone with a cable or cord so the end of the microphone is away from the recorder. The small all-in-one recorders that have the built in microphones, pick up a lot of the hiss and gear noise from the recorder when they are in record mode. A recorder is a necessity for recording EVP’s. EVP’s also called (electronic voice phenomenom) are a very unique and sometimes frightening thing that is often encountered in a haunted area. What an EVP is, is a voice or other communication that is heard on a tape or digital recorder during playback, that was not heard when the recorder was recording.

Film Camera: Do NOT use a digital camera because the photo will always be questioned as being fake, no matter how good it is, where if you use a film camera, you at least have the negatives as some proof. And unless you buy a high mega-pixel digital camera, the photo quality will be less than a nice cheap 35mm film camera.

Camcorder: A camera is good, but a camcorder is even better. Get one that uses a tape, either the small cassettes or one of the older models that use the full sized VHS tapes. I bought two of these older camcorders for under $75 each recently.

Thermal Imaging scopes or goggles: These capture the upper portion of the infrared light spectrum, which is emitted as heat by objects instead of simply reflected as light. Hotter objects, such as warm bodies, emit more of this light than cooler objects like trees or buildings. Often spirits that manifest have a temperature in their form that stands out in this spectrum, especially if a spirit is present in a cold location.

Night Vision scopes or goggles: These little devices have become very cheap, a nice night vision scope can now be purchased easily for under $200. They work by collecting the tiny amounts of light, including the lower portion of the infrared light spectrum, that are present but may be imperceptible to our eyes, and amplifying it to the point that we can easily observe the image.

Flashlight: Take along two small pocket ones for each team member. What can be worse then exploring a dark cellar or underground area, and having the lights or another flashlight fail.

Walkie Talkies: If you have a group of team members, and you are investigating a large location, walkie talkies are not just a good thing to have, but they can be a life saver at times.

Notebook and pencils: Often any electronic, electrical or other devices may fail in a haunted location, so it’s very wise to carry along a small notebook and some pencils in case you need to keep some valuable notes.

Thermal Scanner: A hand held thermal scanner (thermometer) uses infrared technology to measure the surface temperature of material without touching it. You simply point at your target, pull the trigger and read the temperature on the lit LCD display.

One of the best tools I recommend, is also the cheapest, under $10 U.S. It is a computer software program that is made just for Ghost Hunting and Paranormal Investigations. It’s called ‘Ghost Hunter’. The software is for anyone who explores haunted houses or locations where any type of paranormal activity is occurring. Whether you are trying to gather evidence of the haunting or other proof, this software can help make the job more organized and easier.

Ghost Hunter software was made as a scientific tool, for paranormal researchers that believe in spirits, demons, or ghosts. Researchers can easily keep track of vital data gathered at the haunted locations. With this software you can know at a glance such vital information as; the date and times of the activity, location info, GPS data, telephone numbers, notes, sounds heard, odors detected, temperature anomalies, and more.

You can use the software on location during the investigation with any WINDOWS based notebook Computer or back at home or in the office after the investigation.

ACER Aspire 3935-6504 laptop batteries|AS09B56 laptop batteries

Stay unplugged longer with the new ACER AS09B56 2900mAh Li-ion Battery. This 14.4V Li-ion/Lithium-ion battery can replace the original system battery or be used as a spare. ACER computer batteries life (and recharge times) will vary based on many factors including screen brightness, applications, features, power management, battery conditioning and other customer preferences.

Acer’s new Aspire 3935 manages to fit a standard Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 3GB of RAM, and a decent 250GB hard drive into a slim chassis with a brushed metal finish . The trade-offs are the integrated graphics (the standard MacBook offers Nvidia’s excellent GeForce 9400 GPU), a touch pad that’s merely adequate, and a dearth of any kind of video output besides VGA.  (Cheap FPCBP216AP 10.8V,3 cell Laptop Batteries, battery for FUJITSU FPCBP216AP)

The eye-catching Acer Aspire 3935 is only 1-inch thick, and the attractive bronze chassis has a brushed-metal overlay on the back of the lid. It’s not as sturdy as the all-metal construction of the ($400-more-expensive) MacBook, but it generally felt solid and well-built, with a couple of exceptions. The plastic optical-drive tray wiggled and clicked under our fingers whenever we picked the system up, and we could occasionally hear the hard drive shutter and groan during even gentle handling.

A familiar-looking keyboard apes those found on Apple, Sony, and recent Dell laptops, with widely spaced, flat-topped keys. It’s comfortable and easy to use, and includes full page-up and page-down keys, which we always find useful. The touch pad is usable but slightly cramped, and the mouse buttons require a firm click to register. The touchpad does, however, include a handful of multitouch gesture controls, including a photo-zooming pinch, and two-finger horizontal scrolling. We’re fans of touch-pad gestures, but actually getting the gestures to register was hit-or-miss, and the small touch pad surface didn’t give us a lot of room to work.

The 13.3-inch wide-screen LED display offers a 1,366×768 native resolution, which is standard for a 16:9 screen this size, and slightly higher than the usual 1,200×800 found on most non-16:9 13-inch laptops. The display was bright and easy to read, but also very glossy, so be warned if stray light reflections bother you.

The Acer Aspire 3935 performed on par with other mid-priced 13-inch laptops, such as HP’s AMD-powered Pavilion dv3z, and Gateway’s Gateway UC7807u. None were a match for the more expensive MacBook, but in the 13-inch category, Dell’s high-end $2,000 Adamo was far behind in each of our benchmark tests, thanks to its slower ultra-low voltage CPU (although that same chip helps the Adamo be arguably the slimmest laptop on the market today). (Cheap ASUS Eee PC 1101HA laptop batteries)

In anecdotal use, we found the Aspire 3935 well-suited for everyday multitasking, including Web surfing, media playback, and working on office documents. The integrated Intel graphics aren’t going to do much more than play casual Web games–another area where the MacBook has an advantage, with its Nvidia GeForce 9400 graphics.

The Acer Aspire 3935 ran for 3 hours and 2 minutes on our video playback battery drain test, using the included four-cell battery. That’s decent for a 13-inch laptop, but a few models, such as the HP dv3z and the 13-inch MacBook, can run for much longer. Our battery drain test is a grueling one, so you can expect longer life from casual use. Acer also includes a button labeled PowerSmart above the keyboard, which automatically dims the display and changes the color scheme to Vista basic, along with a few other power profile tweaks. It’s nothing you can’t do yourself manually, but the one-button operation is handy. http://www.cheap-laptop-batteries.com/laptop-battery/hp-hstnn-ob0f.htm
